Hydro Flask CEO Scott Allan will be joining host Kristi Miller on the Central Oregon television show myWindow to talk about Hydro Flask’s charitable arm, 5% Back. The show airs at noon Pacific on the Central Oregon CBS affiliate KBNZ, channel 6, 606 (HD) and 7.1 digitally. For BendBroadband cable subscribers, the show will encore at 6:30 and 11PM and will be available onDemand toward the end of the week.
Scott stopped by the studios a few days ago to tape the show, which focuses on Central Oregon lifestyle. This particular show featured multiple charities that are doing great work in the area, as well as a few business (such as Hydro Flask) that work to integrate charitable contributions and giving into their daily business operations. Scott detailed Hydro Flask’s charitable arm 5% Back, which was started in conjunction with the company in 2009.
5% Back enables customers to allocate a portion of the net profits from the sales of each Hydro Flask to a charity of their choosing. On each Hydro Flask is a label with a serial number located on the inside. After purchasing their Hydro Flask, customers can enter the serial number on the 5% Back site (www.FivePercentBack.org), and pick one of several dozen different charities representing various causes and good deeds. Then, at the end of each quarter, Hydro Flask donates money to those charities receiving votes. This past quarter, as an example, the national charities NPR (National Public Radio) and Adopt-a-Classroom, were among some of the larger donation recipients.
In addition to 5% Back, Hydro Flask also donates product to many organizations, including many local nonprofits, schools and other groups. The team members of Hydro Flask also venture out as a group doing volunteer work as well.
Be sure to tune in tomorrow if you’re in the Central Oregon area and catch myWindow. If available, we’ll also try to post a clip of the program for all to watch online.
