Hydro Flask® was given the news this morning that we were named Best New Product at the 2012 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, FL. The event, which began on Wednesday and runs through Saturday, features all of the biggest names in golf, including Callaway, Ping, Titleist, Nike and now Hydro Flask®!
According to the PGA Merchandise Show web site, the new products zone is one of the most popular areas at the event, with buyers, retailers and professionals alike visiting the booths to see the latest and greatest in golf innovations. Hydro Flask® was chosen as the best new product out of hundreds of other products at the show. It’s the first time Hydro Flask® has visited the PGA Merchandise Show.
More details and an official press release to come soon.
Sunday concluded the 2012 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in Salt Lake City. It was a great event and one that we were very much looking forward to. You gotta admit, the outdoor industry folks know how to put on a good trade show (who doesn’t like to end a work day with a cold beer!?).
The event was a great one for Hydro Flask®. Our booth saw a ton of traffic (if you haven’t seen the time-lapse video of the booth action from Sunday, it’s a must see!) and we made some good new contacts and solidified some old ones. Like all trade shows, it was also a great opportunity to meet face-to-face with our awesome reps around the country.
This year’s Winter OR was also the inaugural usage of our newest booth, which a local Bend, Oregon, metal worker made. Each year at OR we keep growing and expanding and this year’s booth was a 10-foot by 20-foot gem that attracted a lot of attention. We loved the way it turned out and apparently so did many of the passersby because we received a lot of compliments on it.
We even had some big names swing by, including extreme skier Glen Plake who stopped by with his wife to shoot the breeze with Hydro Flask® owner Travis Rosbach.
As always, the products were the real highlight of the booth. The newest in Hydro Flask’s® arsenal, the 18oz wide-mouth bottle, was a huge hit and people are stoked about the upcoming coffee lid for it that’s due out in late April. And when I say stoked, I mean stoked. So many people commented on this! It’s definitely getting us excited to be able to give folks what they want. We love our customers and love it when they’re happy .
Like the last few Outdoor Retailer shows, the 64oz growlers were also a big hit. The only downside to the growlers was that we wished we would have brought more of them! Apparently there are a lot of beer drinkers (or simply very thirsty people…) out there in the SLC.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Hydro Flask® booth in Salt Lake City. We had a great time and are already looking forward to Summer OR in August!
If you work in the outdoor industry, chances are you know of the Outdoor Retailer trade show in Salt Lake City, UT. Outdoor Retailer, better know as OR to many, hosts a Summer Market and Winter Market event, the latter of which will be kicking off this Thursday and running through Sunday. Some of the biggest and best outdoor and lifestyle retailers will be in attendance, including many of us at Hydro Flask.
According to the web site, the OR Winter Market is “the largest gathering of the outdoor winter sports industry.” With free demos, seminars and keynotes from industry experts, along with some pretty incredible networking opportunities, the event is one not to miss.
So what will we be showcasing at the OR Winter Market, you ask? We’ll be showcasing our regular product line of Hydro Flasks, as well as the newest member to the family, the 18oz wide-mouth bottle. Less than two months off the production lines, the 18oz wide mouth has all the same great features as our other wide mouth bottles, but now featured in a compact, easy to carry size. And, just like every one of our bottles, the 18oz features all the attributes that make our bottles the best around – BPA free, sweat-proof, 18/8 premium stainless steel double-wall vacuum insulation that leads to the most durable and user-friendly water bottle around.
So if you’re in the industry, please swing by BR booth #331, which is where we’ll be stationed. Whether you’d like to talk in-depth about insulated water bottles or the latest powder conditions (hey, we’re outdoor enthusiasts too), we’d love to chat. And if you already have Hydro Flasks in your stores or at home, let us know how we’re doing. We always love to hear success stories and comments from users of our products. See you in Salt Lake!
Dads do a lot for us, and don’t always get the recognition they deserve. Father’s Day is the perfect chance to show Dad (or a father figure in your life) how much you appreciate them. I have given my Dad many gifts over the years, some have flopped but some have been huge hits! It’s always a fun sibling battle to get Dad the best gift (I love to win), so here are some great ideas:
1) Hydro Flask Growler: Dad will love this because not only will it keep his favorite beer cold all day, but he’ll be one of the first guys to have an insulated Stainless Steel Growler since it just came out.
Act fast and you can score him a Limited Edition Father’s Day Hydro Flask Growler. These limited run growlers have a Black and Silver “hammered texture”.
2) Tickets to a Sporting event: if your Dad is anything like mine then he is passionate about his favorite sports team. What better way to show Dad how much you care then to cheer on his favorite team with him?
3) Grilling Tools: Not all Dads’ like to entertain, but I have yet to find a guy who doesn’t like to grill. So get him prepared for summer barbeques with some new grilling gear.
4) Beer of the month club: You can find these clubs showing up more and more these days, each month or every three months they’ll send dad new beers to try out. Maybe he’ll find a new favorite!
5) Fishing Gear: Buy dad some new gear and treat him to a day on the river. It will give you both a chance to relax, enjoy the outdoors, and create some memories.
Don’t forget Fathers Day is June 19th, 2011. So get out there and get Dad something he’ll love!

Well it’s that time of year again, time to hit the trails and explore as much as you can. Some people, me included, are guilty of not being completely prepared for hiking, especially for short day hikes. It’s important to have at least the essentials in your pack because you never know what might happen. It is always better to be overly prepared then not have something when you need it.
1. Contacts: Make sure you tell someone where you are going, and when you expect to be back. If your family is anything like mine, your Mom appreciates this even when going to the grocery store.
2. Backpack: A comfortable and durable daypack makes a difference; there is nothing worse than a strap breaking mid hike.
3. Hydration: I always have my Hydro Flask with me, and I plan on bringing my new 40 oz bottle everywhere. Who doesn’t want ice cold water on a hot summer day? It’s easy to become dehydrated on a warm sunny day of strenuous hiking, and dehydration is the enemy!
4. Navigation: I am a wanderer so it’s important to be able to get my bearings, and always find my car at the end of the day. At the very least, a small compass could end up saving your life, but maps, and/or a GPS can be equally useful in helping you blaze the trails. Continue reading →
It’s time to retire those warm winter toddies and start making some refreshing spring quenchers. Try this fresh berry radical take on an old time favorite: Lemonade.

Hopefully you all had a fun Earth Day! Little things like using a Hydro Flask double-wall, vacuum-insulated water bottle instead of a disposable plastic bottle really reduce waste filling up landfills. Remember, each Hydro Flask is BPA-free, non-leaching and 100% recyclable.
But that’s not the only way you can reduce plastic use in your life (which the birds and bears and barracudas will really thank you for.) So here’s the skinny: We challenge you to a “no new plastic” campaign in your life. Try to keep from introducing new plastics into your world for three days. Or a week. Or a month. That depends on how hardcore you are.
We came up with some helpful hints to reduce plastic use: Continue reading →
One of the most fulfilling experiences for us so far this spring has been learning about First Descents. First Descents is an amazing non-profit organization committed to curing young adults of the emotional effects of cancer and empowering them to regain control of their lives by experiencing outdoor adventure therapy through kayaking, rock climbing and other outdoor adventure sports. We recently traveled to Vail, Colorado for the organization’s annual gala fundraiser. It’s so impressive to hear from young adults with cancer about the many ways that an outdoor experience can be such an important part of their treatment.

Since we’re constantly honing our outdoor industry radar, we recently heard about a pretty amazing job opportunity.
It’s a job most outdoor adventure enthusiasts would love to have. It offers the chance to explore nature, network with adventure-minded industry leaders, build an energetic team and most importantly, affect change. It’s a job for people who are passionate about preserving natural resources.
It’s a Fellowship with the Outdoor Alliance. Continue reading →
So you’re three days in to that RV vacation with your in-laws. So far you’ve been forced to eat McDonald’s for breakfast three days in a row, been subjected to undercooked meatloaf and overcooked peas on the RV stove, listened to your sister’s kid bawl his head off at every gift shop the family has walked through, heard to the same ZZ Top album eight times and drawn the short straw for gray water pumping duties. This trip really, really sucks.
But then it hits you: Why not seize control of this vacation (you’ve got four days left to endure after all), grab the steering wheel from your mother-in-law (who alternately drives like a 90-year-old grandma with cataracts and a 17-year-old boy) and steer this family toward a real American adventure? So you grab your iPhone and download Oh, Ranger! Parkfinder, a free app that locates parks near you, as well as activities for outdoor enthusiasts in the immediate area. Find the app on iTunes.
